Religious programmes for 2020 new year celebration

KUALA LUMPUR: The arrival of 2020 in several states took place on a moderate scale featuring religious, spiritual and Islamic-based entertainment programmes.

The Federal Territory Mosque organised a special forum that featured Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department director Mohd Ajib Ismail and Melaka deputy Mufti Hazarudin Baharuddin as the panelists.

A religious lecture was held at Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad after the Maghrib prayers which were delivered by the mosque chief imam Yahya Mahyuddin.

In Negeri Sembilan, Masjid Sri Sendayan, Seremban took the initiative to organise the four-day Karnival Geng Masjid Ambang 2020 programme beginning last Saturday.

The highlight of the carnival was a forum on religious Muslim issues which was held at 9 pm today at the mosque compound.

The forum which was attended by thousands of Muslims featured three panelists namely Ustaz Don Daniyal, Imam Muda Asyraf and Ustaz Syamsul Debat.

In Selangor, the “selawat” (salutation) upon Prophet Muhammad echoed at the new year celebration programme held at Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam.

The event was also attended by State Youth Generation Development, Sports and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman and Shah Alam mayor Datuk Haris Kasim.

In Terengganu, the “solat hajat” (special prayers) Perdana programme was held at Duyong Marina & Resort, Kuala Terengganu tonight.

The solat hajat which was led by state Mosque imam Wan Mohd Hazim Wan Mohd Hashim was participated by a congregation of about 500 people.

Wan Mohd Hazim then recited the new year prayers, seeking the blessings of Allah for the well-being of the state and its people.
