TASEK GELUGOR, June 14 — The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has allocated about RM3 billion this year to support students pursuing higher education at institutions of higher learning.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said the allocation, channelled through PTPTN education loans, is aimed at ensuring no student is deprived of higher education due to financial constraints.

“Students offered places at universities, polytechnics and related institutions can apply for financing through the MyPTPTN application. Each year, we allocate about RM3 billion to assist both new and existing students.

“We do not want any student to miss the opportunity to further their studies because of financial difficulties,” she said when met at the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) Santuni Komuniti MADANI #PERDADiHati programme at Masjid Jamek Al-Islah in Pokok Tampang here today.

Norliza said PTPTN also provides an Advance Loan Payment (WPP) of RM1,500 to help new students meet initial expenses before registering at their institutions.

She said the assistance can be used for registration fees, learning materials and other initial expenses.

“Students in need of the WPP can apply through MyPTPTN,” she said.

Norliza added that PTPTN has also introduced the PTPTN eKasih Children’s Scholarship which was launched in Johor yesterday to assist students from low-income families.

The scholarship is targeted to benefit 10,000 students nationwide in 2026, particularly those from households earning below RM4,000 a month.

“Should there be a need to assist more students, we will consider additional applications based on the stipulated eligibility criteria,” she said.
