PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29 — The 2026 National Day Prime Minister’s Address Ceremony at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here has been scheduled for 2 pm, according to the Ministry of National Unity (KPN).
In a statement yesterday, KPN said the adjustment was made after taking into account current developments, particularly to ensure the safety, health and comfort of guests and the public, in addition to ensuring the smooth implementation of the ceremony.
“The 2026 National Day Prime Minister’s 2026 Address Ceremony is an important platform to reflect on the aspirations and hopes of the Madani government leadership in fuelling the spirit of independence, strengthening patriotism, and nurturing a sense of love and responsibility towards the country.
“All Malaysians are invited to attend to celebrate the spirit of National Day and foster the values of mutual understanding, respect and acceptance of diversity towards building a nation that continues to progress, remain harmonious and prosper,” the statement said.
The National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 Celebration Working Committee under the Ministry of Communications had earlier announced that the Prime Minister’s address ceremony had been moved from Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur to PICC due to the current haze conditions.
It was previously reported that Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said hazy weather conditions were expected in Sabah from tomorrow, while high haze concentrations could occur in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya until August 31.
