PUCHONG: The wedding ceremony operators (PPMPM) have submitted a proposal for the standard operating procedure (SOP) on wedding ceremony for the government consideration.

Its president Zarinah Mohideen said the proposal was sent to the Prime Minister and other relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti), and the National Security Council (MKN).

“We are also working with the Malaysian Association of Health and Safety (Misha) in providing this SOP which emphasizes the safety and health of guests attending the wedding with the new normal.

“It was provided in written form and in a video format depicting the actual situation with the SOP when the wedding was held,” she said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.

In this regard, Zarinah said she hoped the government would consider the proposal and allow the wedding ceremony to be held.

She said the truth would give the wedding organizers a fresh breath since the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“It is estimated that 200,000 Muslim and Bumiputera workers will lose their jobs if the wedding industry is not opened by July.

“Many Muslim and Bumiputera wedding ceremony operators will roll their mats if this situation continues,” she stressed.

According to her, an estimated 150,000 weddings were delayed during the MCO enforcement.
