Political analyst: Rahul Gandhi’s failure led to BJP’s victory

PUCHONG: New Delhi based political scientist Harjeet Singh Arora blamed the failure of Rahul Gandhi and the Indian National Congress (INC) for the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led alliance today.

“Narendra Modi ran for the elections based on the backing of the Rashtriya desh and Hindutva centric campaign.  He won because there was no competition,” he said in reference to the Rashtriya Sevak Sangh which is BJP’s parent organization.

“Rahul has no maturity or experience for the job.  He is known due to his family ties and reputation.  What has he done for India? Nothing,” he added.

The opposition can’t present their fact right. He is not a candidate for prime minister. His mother Sonia, is old and ill.

Rahul Gandhi comes from luminous Nehru – Gandhi family that gave India three Prime Ministers – Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

In West Bengal, the All India Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee maintained the majority which was somewhat reduced. The AITC won 28 Lok Sabha seats compared to BJP’s 18.

“BJP rose from ashes to get those seats. They only had two seats previously.”

At the time of writing BJP won 298 whereas including allies in National Democratic Alliance has 347 seats. INC has 51 and its alliance the Unified Progressive Front made it 91. Other parties gained 104 seats.

Despite the positive feedback from the Indian share market that rose in lieu of BJP’s return to power, it is not a rosy economy for India.

“Economy is getting worse. There are no jobs for graduates but the opposition doesn’t know how to capitalise on it,” said Harjeet.
