KLUANG, July 5 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s presence on the ninth day of campaigning for the Johor state election has provided a significant morale boost to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) campaign machinery, particularly in the Machap and Layang-Layang state constituencies, as they intensify efforts ahead of polling day on July 11.

PH candidate for the Machap state seat, Nur Hafiz Roslan, said the visit by the PH chairman not only motivated the candidates and campaign workers but also conveyed a clear message that every effort throughout the campaign should be centred on serving the people.

He said that during the meeting, Anwar, who is also PKR president, reminded them to work diligently and perform ‘amal soleh’ (righteous deeds) in all efforts to safeguard the welfare of the people.

“The Prime Minister’s message was clear — we are here not to create hostility, but to serve the people. I will ensure that the services we provide are delivered without prejudice. Our presence here, particularly in the Simpang Renggam parliamentary constituency, as well as the Machap and Layang-Layang state constituencies, is solely to serve the people.

“With the Prime Minister’s visit this morning, both I and my colleague, PH candidate for Layang-Layang, Guna Balakrishnan, are even more motivated to continue working alongside the entire campaign team to reach out to all segments of the community,” he said at the ‘PMX Santai Sarapan Bersama Masyarakat’ programme in Simpang Renggam today.

Meanwhile, Guna said the Prime Minister’s visit had greatly helped his efforts to engage more closely with the local community.

He said that although support from local residents had been very encouraging, efforts to reach out to the people must be intensified and should not be taken lightly.

“The Prime Minister also told me that if I am given the mandate, I must develop this area and help the local community,” he said.

More than 1,000 residents attended the programme, with many of them taking the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister in person.

For Simpang Renggam resident Chuan Chee Mei, 48, the Prime Minister’s visit today strengthened the family’s confidence in choosing the PH candidate.

“Seeing Anwar wholeheartedly supporting the candidates and attending programmes with the people has made me even more determined to give my mandate to the candidates contesting the election,” Chuan said.

Echoing the sentiment, Noor Takiyudin Salleh, 38, also expressed his intention to vote for PH candidates.

“The Prime Minister came here in a very relaxed and approachable manner. The programme with the people was casual, and I saw a large crowd, with more than 1,000 people in attendance. It was truly remarkable,” he said.

The Johor state election has drawn 172 candidates vying for 56 state seats. Polling is scheduled for July 11, while early voting will take place on July 7.
