KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) cracked down on subsidised diesel misappropriation in a raid at a premise in Puchong, Selangor, with the total value of the seizure, including the tanker lorries and equipment, estimated at RM919,022.40.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA) Wildlife Crime Bureau/Special Intelligence Investigation (WCB/PSK) commander Datuk Mohd Zaki Ashar said the raid, conducted under Ops Taring Bravo 1 from 3.30 am, was carried out in collaboration with the Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN).

He said two local men, aged 33 and 64, were arrested during the operation, which ended at 1.30 pm.

“Preliminary investigations found that the two individuals are believed to be the premise caretaker and lorry driver,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Mohd Zaki said the premise was believed to have been operating as a storage and handling facility for subsidised diesel without a valid licence or permit.

He said checks at the location uncovered seven skid tanks and three tanker lorries of various capacities containing about 51,900 litres of diesel worth RM231,993.

An electric pump with a hose was also seized, and the case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Mohd Zaki said the two individuals and the seized items had been handed over to Selangor KPDN for further investigation to identify the source of the supply, distribution network and the duration of the premise’s operations.

Meanwhile, he said from Jan 1 to date, WCB/PSK had conducted 241 raids nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 415 individuals for various offences, with total seizures estimated at RM315,104,274.04.
