PAS: Revoke Ting’s citizenship, check status of all MPs and assemblymen

PUCHONG: PAS wants former Pujut state assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon’s citizenship[1] revoked over his dual citizenship status.

Sarawak PAS commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said Ting from DAP has been lying to Sarawakians, especially the people of Pujut, by hiding his dual citizenship status.

“PAS wants the federal government to revoke Ting’s citizenship under Article 24(1) of the Federal Constitution for having dual citizenship.

“This should be a lesson to everyone to obey the law and not play with their citizenship status,” he said, in a statement today.

Yesterday, the Federal Court ruled that the Sarawak state legislative assembly was right in disqualifying Ting as Pujut state assemblyman over his dual citizenship status. [2]

Jofri said the state government should also re-evaluate all Ting’s allowances and allocation that was given to him as the Pujut assemblyman.

“The authorities should also check all MPs and state assemblymen’s citizenship status and take action accordingly” he said.
