Dato Sri title stripped but Gnanaraja brushes it off as rumour

PUCHONG: The Pahang state government has stripped off businessman G Gnanaraja’s Dato Sri honorific title effective immediately.

This was confirmed in a letter from the office of Pahang State Secretary dated March 13.

Gnanaraja received the SSAP title from Pahang Sultan five years ago.

While the reason was not stated it is believed that Gnanaraja’s title was stripped as he claimed trial today for receiving RM19 million as settlement into a probe by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

The MACC was probing into the Penang undersea tunnel project worth RM6.34 billion.

Gnanaraja is also implicated in other fraud related activities. He is described as an actor, film producer, social entrepreneur and a speaker on his website

There were also allegations that Gnanaraja misused the names of former prime minister Najib Razak and wife, Rosmah Mansor.

He is married to former radio personality G Geethanjali who was a strong supporter of Rosmah during the BN rule.

The businessman meanwhile dismissed the viralled letter as a rumour.

“(I’m) still Datuk Seri. That (stripping) is just a rumour,” he told the media at the Shah Alam Sessions Court.
