KUALA LUMPUR: The government is encouraging the development of technology and innovation to spur the growth of the business to government (B2G) sector especially in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), said Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming.
The government according to him, looks forward to greater engagement in the B2G sector to improve the adoption of technology, especially in the manufacturing sector.
“I look forward to see how technology and innovation can be used by the government including areas of limitations in order to improve industries in Malaysia,” he said in Sharp Smart Connected 2020 Conference here, today.
Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd said Ong, has set an example in creating a complete ecosystem of solutions by applying Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), 8K resolution displays and 5G network technologies.
Meanwhile, Sharp Electronics managing director Robert Wu said, in line with B2G effort, the company has been collaborating with Malaysia Tourism Promotional Board to produce a Visit Malaysia 2020 promotional video in 8K resolution.
“We have been spending about three weeks to have the real 8K shooting of the video and we are going to launched it (the promotional video) probably in mid-January next year,” he said.
He said, Sharp is also in discussion with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to provide 8K+5G technology in an event in Langkawi, Kedah.
During the conference, Sharp also showcased its 8K+5G lab which was made up of 8K multi-screens, an 8K mini cinema and 8K micro studio to develop 8K live streams.
The high-tech lab serves as a testbed for case studies for 8K technology in enabling big data transfer and high-resolution display to benefit the business, entertainment, education and tourism industry.
