GEORGE TOWN: Cyber fraud cannot be curbed by any anti-virus in the market, according to an expert.
This is because the modus operandi of the syndicates is much more advanced than any current security measures, said Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) lecturer (NAv6), Associate Prof Dr M Selvakumar.
“Cyber crime is also developing and difficult to break as there exists groups that are trained in advanced tactics,” he told reporters when met after presenting a paper at the 5th International Security Seminar based on cyber crime, organised by the Crime Prevention Foundation.
The two-day seminar launched by state police chief Datuk T Narenasagaran had about 10 international cyber crime experts as speakers and about 100 participants including from overseas.
Meanwhile, Selvakumar said a research group in USM is developing a cyber awareness programme for the students.
