Najib: Why so touchy about Raymond’s sacking, Liew?

PUCHONG Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak questioned the sacking of Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew’s political secretary Raymond Ahuar by the state government yesterday.

In a Facebook post today, the Pekan MP said that Raymond was mysteriously sacked after the latter investigated and submitted a report on illegal logging activity at Kampung Tatalaan II, Sabah.

“Raymond is also the Sabah PKR youth chief. He was said to have visited a logging area after receiving complaints from the Murut community in Kampung Tatalaan II,” he said.

Najib added that Raymond had later compiled a report after investigating the matter. It was said that the logging company had violated several regulations; including to have logged in excess without compensating the affected parties.

The ex-premier also claimed that the logging company’s license had expired a year ago.

“However after submitting the report, Raymond was sacked by the Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who is also in charge of issuing logging licenses.

“The question now is, why is the chief minister sacking a political secretary of another Cabinet member? It doesn’t make any sense” he said.

Yesterday, Liew defended Raymond’s sacking, saying the decision was made by the state Cabinet and not by the chief minister.

However, she was said to have become defensive when pressed on the matter, saying outsiders should not interfere in Sabah affairs.

Najib then questioned Liew for getting defensive over the matter, saying the people just wanted answers.

“So, is there an ulterior motive in Raymond’s sacking?” he asked.
