Muafakat Nasional: Govt. must form RCI to investigate Tabung Haji scandals

PUCHONG: Muafakat Nasional urged the government to form Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate scandals and misappropriation of funds allegation involving LembagaTabung Haji.

The Umno and PAS pact said the forming of RCI as the Pakatan Harapan government had promised, will help to restore back the depositors’ and people’s confidence in the institution.

“Until now we still do not see any investigation on these allegations or anyone charged.

“The people are wondering what is being done after the Pakatan government revealed about the misappropriation of funds and abuse of power involving the pilgrimage fund,” said the pact in a statement yesterday.

The pact said the RCI will also help investigate the selling of the institution assets worth RM10 billion to Urusharta Jemaah Sdn Bhd owned by the Finance Ministry.

“The latest involved the selling of 24,000 hectares of land owned by TH Plantation that was questioned by 9.4 million depositors,” it said.

In Nov last year, Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd said the government will bear[1] RM10.3 billion premium to ensure the restoration of the financial health of Lembaga Tabung Haji as part of the rescue and restructuring plan of the pilgrimage fund.
