PUCHONG: World Kidney Day is a global campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys. All across the globe many hundred events take place from public screenings in Argentina to Zumba marathons in Malaysia. This day is celebrated every second Thursday of March month.
According to a statement from Health Ministry, The World Kidney Day is observed to raise awareness to the people on how important a kidney is for a human.
“This awareness includes preventive actions, awareness of risk factors and awareness how a person need to live with kidney disease,” it said.
Approximately, 64 % of kidney patients in Malaysia receive dialysis treatment.
The number of kidney patients expected to increase up to 106,000 cases by 2040 compared to 39,711 cases in 2016.
