KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale hit South Sumatera, Indonesia at 6.23 am this morning.
In a statement today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said the quake was reported at 140 km Southwest of Bengkulu, Indonesia with a depth of 10 km.
There is no threat of tsunami to Malaysia, the statement said.
