KLANG: Stubborn and refused to comply with police instructions to disperse, 26 men were arrested at a funeral in Taman Intan, Kapar, Klang, yesterday afternoon.

North Klang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh said police responded to the scene after receiving reports that a funeral involving 50 individuals will take place.

“Upon arrival, police repeatedly warned them to disperse and not to march, but some individuals remained stubborn.

“Acting on the disobedience of the Movement Control Command (CPP) to disperse, police arrested 26 men around the location,” she said in a statement today.

“The teenager died at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) on Wednesday due to a road accident, however, there have been no police reports so far.

“The deceased’s family held a prayer service at his home in Taman Intan and those present were friends of the deceased. The father of the deceased was also arrested under the Societies Act for organizing a council that had elements of gangsterism,” she said.

She said the arrests are men in their 20s and 30s.

“The investigation is conducted under Section 269 of the Penal Code, Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966, Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 1988.

All the suspects will be remanded for four days from April 17 to April 20, while the deceased’s father in his 40s will be remanded tomorrow,” she added.

She also advised the public to obey the instructions of the CPP in the third phase and for the death ceremony to be attended by family members only.
