He said that the unit would serve to coordinate any application on matters related to technology and the use of Internet received from the disabled group in the country.

“I intend to set up a special unit so that the ministry can see the problems faced by them in facing such matters and how we can resolve the problem.

“Now we look at how we can use the technology, especially the infra that we have to assist the disabled group to achieve and strengthen their business,” Gobind was reported saying.

Al-Ishsal said that the seven main telecommunications company in Malaysia, namely Celcom, Digi, Maxis, TM, Time dotCom, YTL and U Mobile will offer discounts ranging from RM10 to RM15 for mobile services and between RM10 and RM44 for fixed services.

He added that to enjoy the benefits, the disabled individual must provide supporting documents, such as their MyKad and OKU card issued by the Department of Social Welfare.

“For families with OKU children, they are also entitled to the special packages by providing proof of guardianship.
