MERSING: Johor Region Two Marine Police (PPM) seized RM125,638 worth of hard liquor and firecrackers following a raid on a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on Jalan Mersing-Endau, near here, yesterday morning.
In a statement today, its commander ACP Abdul Rahman Mohamad said the vehicle was driven by a 76-year-old local man.
Abdul Rahman said the suspect, the vehicle, and the contraband had been handed over to the Mersing district police headquarters.
In another case, the marine police arrested a 63-year-old man and seized 260 litres of diesel after the vehicle driven by the man was stopped near a petrol station on Jalan Jemaluang here two days ago.
“The suspect was believed to have violated license conditions under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs’s Supply Control Act 1961,” said Abdul Rahman, adding that all confiscated items including the vehicle were valued at RM45,600.
