GEORGE TOWN: Penang are only targeting to reach the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Cup competition.
FA of Penang president Dr Amar Pritpal Abdullah said the players were in high spirits following their third-place finish in the Premier League this season.
“The target is realistic because Penang are a Premier League (second tier) team,” he told Bernama.
The Black Panthers are drawn in Group C with this season’s Super league runners-up Pahang, Premier League champions Sabah and Perak.
The top two teams in each group qualify for the quarter-finals.
They begin their campaign in this 93rd edition of the tournament against Pahang in Kuantan on Saturday before hosting Sabah at the City Stadium here on Wednesday.
