KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) youth chief Khalid Ismath over the alleged insult against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah on social media.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohd Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah, when contacted, confirmed the arrest, but refused to make any further comment.
Yesterday, Bukit Aman CID chief Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the police had received a report on the alleged insult against the King and Queen on Twitter.
Tunku Azizah was also reported to have deactivated her official Twitter account @cheminahsayang following negative comments from ill-hearted netizens.
However, the Permaisuri Agong had reactivated her account and explained that she left Twitter for personal reasons, not due to her critics.
She had also urged the police to stop harassing her detractors, saying neither she or the Agong lodged any police reports on the insults.
