KIMANIS: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) candidate in the Kimanis parliamentary by-election Datuk Karim Bujang promised to continue to fight for Sabah’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), if given the mandate.
He said he would pursue the matter alongside Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and other state government leaders to ensure the Sabah people would get to enjoy the rights within the next three years.
“We will fight for Sabah’s rights and I see the commitment by the chief minister and his deputies in pursuing it.
“He (Mohd Shafie) is confident and believed that whatever is enshrined in MA63 is for the interest of the state and its people,” he said when speaking at a gathering with members of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) in the Bongawan state constituency here today.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is also UPKO president and Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also UPKO vice-president.
Karim said the voice of the people of Sabah and Sarawak was heard even louder now compared during the previous government with 17 out of 20 matters stated in MA63 having been agreed upon by the government.
“The objective and struggle of the state government today is different from that of the previous government. We want major changes to happen in three years,” he said and urged the constituents in Kimanis to support Warisan because the party is capable of bringing the changes.
The Kimanisa by-election will witness a straight fight between Karim and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Mohamad Alamin.
