Forbes published a list of America’s 100 Most Innovative Leaders and included only one woman in the index. The internet is displeased.

American business magazine Forbes found itself at the receiving end on the internet after it published a list of America’s 100 Most Innovative Leaders and included only one woman in the index.

The list includes 99 men and Barbara Rentler, CEO of Ross Stores – she is the only woman in it at the 75th spot on the index. The rankings have been presented by HSBC Bank as the list explains: “Who are the most creative and successful business minds of today?”

Both Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon and Tesla’s Elon Musk occupied the first spot on the list while Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook is on the third spot. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings is on the fifth spot while Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is on number six. Apple CEO Tim Cook is on the eighth spot on the list.

In the report that accompanied the list, Forbes mentioned that business school professors Jeff Dyer and Nathan Furr collaborated with consultant Curtis Lefrandt to “measure four essential leadership qualities” of the innovative leaders.

“Media reputation for innovation, social connections, track record for value creation and investor expectations for value creation,” were the determiners used to formulate the list. “The researchers then ranked these visionaries in a high-powered selection of 100 innovators at top US companies,” Forbes wrote in its report.

Twitter, meanwhile, is not only displeased about the fact that only one woman made it to the list but also because Barbara Rentler’s picture hasn’t been included in the index as well. The profile picture in Barbara Rentler’s case is blank on the list.

Angry comments surfaced on Twitter as netizens slammed Forbes in strongly-worded posts. “You should be ashamed of yourselves.

It’s 2019 and America’s Most Innovative Leaders is 99 MEN AND ONE WOMAN? Un-bloody-believable,” Cindy Gallop tweeted. Several others followed suit.
