KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — A 68-year-old retiree never thought that his decision to save through Bank Rakyat’s Rizq Plus Investment-i Account would bring him such good fortune when he emerged as the winner of the Millionaire Draw, taking home a RM1 million prize.
Aziz Mohamed, from Kajang, Selangor, said he joined Rizq Plus after being introduced to the product by a Bank Raykat officer, with the intention of saving his surplus funds.
“I only put the money in to save, I never intended to win anything,” he told Bernama after the Raikan Ganjaran #UntukSemua (#Untuk Semua Rewards Celebration) here yesterday.
On his plans for the prize money, Aziz said he would keep the money in the investment account, adding that he also plans to go on a holiday with his family.
Meanwhile, Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak said that Aziz is the fifth millionaire since the Rizq Plus Investment-i account was introduced in 2022.
“The next Millionaire Draw is in October,” he said in his speech at the ceremony.
The Rizq Plus Investment-i account currently has over 250,000 customers, with total investments exceeding RM1 billion.
At the same event, 40-year-old Awang Ahmad Khadar Awang Zainal, from Mukah, Sarawak, emerged as the winner of the Suara Hati 2026 Campaign, taking home the grand prize of a Toyota Fortuner sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The February 19-April 30 campaign also saw four winners each receiving gold wafers weighing 50 grammes, 30 grammes and 20 grammes, as well as home furnishings worth RM10,000, while 65 winners received consolation prizes of RM500 credited to their Rizq Plus Investment-i Account.
