PUCHONG: Health Ministry director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today said 130 new confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded in the country, increasing the total of cases to 1,030.
He said 48 of the new confirmed cases are from the tabligh gathering at Masjid Jamek, Sri Petaling cluster.
“Until today, 26 of the coronavirus patients are still receiving treatment at intensive care unit (ICU) wards and need the respiratory equipment,” he said in a statement.
He added 12 COVID-19 patients are fully cured and discharged from hospital today.
“The new cumulative number of the coronavirus patients that have been cured and discharged from hospitals is now 87,” he said.
Earlier Hisham urged that COVID-19 patients not to hide their status and let the Health Ministry know about people who had close contact with them and their whereabouts.
“We had incidents this week where patients tried to hide this information especially the people related to the tabligh gathering at Masjid Jamek.
“This act is considered a crime and increases the risk of spreading the coronavirus,” he said.
