Health Ministry: Vaccinate your kids against polio!
PUCHONG: Health Ministry today advised parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated from polio after being born, as Malaysia just had its first polio case after 27 years recently.
In a Facebook post, the ministry said parents must ensure that their children received polio vaccine according to the vaccination schedule, starting at the age of two months old.
“The children can start to be vaccinated when they are two months old, and then three and five months old and additional immunisation booster at the age of 18 months.
“This immunisation process must be completed as scheduled,” it said.
Yesterday, the ministry confirmed that a three months year old baby boy in Tuaran, Sabah have been infected by polio.
According to the investigation by the ministry, the baby was not vaccinated.
The ministry reminded the public that the National Immunisation Programme is free of charge.
“The vaccine can be prescribed at all government health clinics,” it said.
