PUCHONG: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today thanked Tanjung Piai voters for giving a massive win to Barisan Nasional, alluding it was a sign that the people accepted the Umno-PAS unity pact or Muafakat Nasional.
In an immediate statement today, Hadi said the win showed that Malaysians of all races respected Muafakat Nasional and it was time to strengthen cooperation and integration among the people at the national level.
“The win also signalled that the people are sick and tired of the federal government’s failure in looking out for their welfare and their feeble excuses in not fulfilling their election pledges.
“The people also told the Pakatan Harapan government that they cannot bear with their extreme politicking and malicious slander,” he said.
BN’s Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng trounced Pakatan Harapan’s Karmaine Sardini with a huge majority to win the Tanjung Piai by-election today.
He garnered 25,466 votes, as opposed to Pakatan’s Karmaine Sardini who got 10,380 votes.
Hadi, who is also Marang MP, also thanked his party members and workers for helping out during the campaigning period.
“To Wee Jeck Seck, let us work together for the betterment of the people and strengthen national unity in the Parliament, he said.
