PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is in talks with Beijing to bring back Malaysians who are currently in Wuhan, China right now.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said there are presently 78 Malaysians in Wuhan which has imposed a lockdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
“We are in talks with the Chinese government to bring back our citizen home from Wuhan,” he said in a press conference here today.
Mahathir said once the government granted permission for the 78 people, they will be submitted to a 14 days quarantine.
“This is to make sure they are not suffering or infected by the disease,” he said
He added Malaysia is also interested in sending gloves, face masks and food to Wuhan.
“We were informed that food supply in Wuhan are depleting.
“When we bring back our citizens from Wuhan we will use the opportunity to bring along the supplies that are needed there,” he said.
