Five LTTE cases transferred to the High Court

KUALA LUMPUR: Sessions Court here today transferred the case of five men accused of being linked to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Judge Azura Alwi made the decision after Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Mohd Firdaus Abu Hanifah made the application under Seksyen 177 A (1) Penal Code when the case was re-mentioned today.

The five men are officer S Chandru, 38; technician S Arivainthan, 27; storekeeper S Thanagaraj, 26; security guard M Pumugan, 29 and teacher Sundram Renggan @ Rengasamy, 52.

Their attorneys, Ramkarpal Singh, RT Rajasekaran and Syafiqah Sofian did not object the application by Firdaus.

On Oct 31 they were charged supporting LTTE using their Facebook accounts ‘Ariventhan Subramaniam’, ‘Tamilarasan Sivam’, ‘Pumugan Tamilan’, ‘Chandru Suparmaniam’ dan ‘Elilan Elilan’.

Meanwhile, in the same court, taxi driver V Balamurugan, 37, charged with supporting LTTE using Facebook account ‘Balamurugan Veerasamy’ case were also transferred to the High Court.

DPP Aliff Asraf Anuar Shahruddin  said the case was transferred to Kuala Lumpur High Court.
