PUCHONG: Malaysian parents still lack awareness about skills training as career prospects for their children.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Education Ministry said only 28% of students in the country further their studies in skills related education.
“This happens because parents or guardians still see skills training as only for students who are weak in their academics and has no future.
“Skills training now is not the last option for students, in leu with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.)),” it said.
The ministry said that foreign countries saw a high number of their students furthering their studies in skills training education.
“According to a research in 2016, 59% students in German has furthered their studies in skills training programmes, Netherlands (68%), Australia (62%) and Thailand (41%),” it said.
