PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad stood firm saying that P Waytha Moorthy will continue to serve as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Mahathir also dismissed calls by certain quarters who called for Waytha Moorthy to be removed from the Cabinet, following the inquest verdict on the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
“I don’t see any problem. For now, I can still keep him (Waytha Moorthy) as the minister,” he told reporters after launching the Security and Public Order Policy at the Home Ministry today.
In Jan, Mahathir was reported as saying that he would decide on Waytha Moorthy’s position after receiving the full findings of the inquest investigating Adib’s death.
On Sept 27, the Shah Alam Coroner’s Court ruled that Adib died after he was assaulted by two or three unidentified people during a riot outside the Sri Maha Mariammam temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya, Selangor last year.
Adib, who was a member of the emergency medical rescue services at the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue station, died on Dec 17, 2018, after fighting for his life for 21 days.
