DAP: Dr M no longer committed to Pakatan manifesto
PUCHONG: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir does not want to commit to fulfilling the Pakatan Harapan Manfesto anymore, alleged the DAP.
In a statement today, its secretary general Lim Guan Eng claimed that Mahathir had conveyed this message during their meeting two days ago, at the Prime Minister Office.
“Our election manifesto remains as our guide to unite us and govern the nation under the leadership of Mahathir.
“But during my meeting on Feb 25 at the PMO, Mahathir indicated that he refused to represent Pakatan and commit to our general election promises any longer,” said Lim.
Yesterday, Mahathir announced that he was looking forward to form a unity government, which was apolitical and would work towards a national agenda.
He also apologised to Malaysians for the current political imbroglio, saying he had to quit initially as he was opposed to his party, Bersatu’s plan to form a new pact with Umno and PAS.
Lim said that Pakatan won the last general election due to their election manifesto. Although there were differences of opinion among its component parties, all had agreed to the pledges made.
“The four parties may have different ideology and aspirations, but we do have a common ground and are bound by the general election manifesto agreed to by all,” said the former minister.
Yesterday, the remnants of Pakatan; PKR, DAP and Amanah announced that they had nominated Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the next prime minister.
This was an about turn from their previous stand of supporting Mahathir to continue.
