Daim confirms ECRL track undergo changes after cost shaved

PUCHONG: Malaysia’s chief negotiator with China Tun Daim Zainuddin has confirmed that East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) track underwent changes.

He told reporters that the first station would no longer be in Gombak. The initial project proposal began in Gombak, Selangor with links to Port Klang and ends in Kota Bharu within Malaysia.

“The Gombak station has been struck off as the line cuts through Bentong in Pahang before heading to Jelebu in Negeri Sembilan,” Daim said to reporters in China.

The new line would be extended from Negeri Sembilan to Kuala Klawang, Bangi, Kajang, Putrajaya dan Pelabuhan Klang.

Earlier today, Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the project has been given a green light after negotiations and the cost was reduced [1]by RM21.5 billion.
