SIMPANG PERTANG, July 30 — A sale known as Jualan Rakyat to help Pertam folks cope with price increases is among the election pledges of a candidate here.
Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, who would be representing Barisan-Pakatan said this would be carried out on a regular basis to help the folks in the rural constituency deal with the increase in price of such items.
This was one of the five pledges by the state Umno chief and Jelebu MP made to the locals if he is elected.
“The sale will be known as Jualan Rakyat and we will have it at selected outlets in Pertang, Negeri Sembilan.
“This will surely help ease the rural folk with their expenses,” he said during a walkabout to meet voters.
He also distributed a booklet on the five pledges titled “5 Aspirasi Pertang” (Five Aspirations for Pertang).
Jalaluddin who had served as Klawang assemblyman for one term from 2004 and for Pertang from 2013, also hopes to work with the relevant ministries and government agencies to improve internet coverage, water and electricity supply and the road network in Pertang.
“I also pledge to improve roads in the smallholdings and estates so that agricultural produce can be easily brought out.
“This will help increase the income of the people who largely depend on agriculture and stabilise prices,” he said.
Jalaluddin also pledged to help provide medical devices and assistance for those in the business and agriculture sectors.
“We will also provide financial aid to senior citizens and the needy during festivals so they too can celebrate the occasion like others.
“This will be given to all eligible people irrespective of race or religion,” he said.
Jalaluddin will be involved in a straight fight against Perikatan Nasional’s Amirudin Hasan or popularly known as Cikgu Amir for the seat which had always been a Barisan stronghold.
In the 2018 election, Barisan’s Noor Azmi Yusof won the seat with a 415 vote majority in a three-cornered fight.
He got 4,008 votes as against PKR’s Osman Dusa who obtained 3,593 votes and PAS’ Hamran Abu Hasan with 578.
