PUCHONG: Azman Fahmi was appointed as My Events International chief executive officer effective immediately. The man with 20 years experience was previously CEO of Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia.

In his acceptance speech, the man who was business development director was excited to merge his 20 years experience in the industry with MyEvents, a global brand name for 13 years.

“Developing local talent is vital. I want it to be an international company, the Malaysian way that complements each other. We need to innovate not imitate.

“The pace of change in today’s global event industry is exceptional. I am committed to ensuring that we not only stay at the forefront of this change but we continue to innovate and lead the market as we have always done.

“My Events has a great global culture, amazing market capability and a strategy that has seen us grow solidly in recent years.

“We aim to be the leader in inspiring Malaysians via events. Each events must be unique, innovative, attractive and informative for the public, corporate and government sector to attend and participate.

In addition, the event must also impart knowledge to the participants at all levels. Few new events are currently being planned focusing on promoting Malaysia, its talents, products and services to the local and international market.

I am looking forward to building on this success whilst simultaneously ensuring we remain focused on delivering the very best quality products and service to our customers.”

Azman spoke of his future plans for My Events to The Leaders Online.

His immediate concerns for the first three months are related to business transformation and risk management.

“I need to understand the current system before making changes. What is bad needs to be good and what is good needs to be better.

As for business plans for My Events International, Azman intends to inspire Malaysians to attend events conducted by the company.

“We need to go back to the purpose. Each event must have its unique selling point for the public to attend. The event must impart knowledge to the public at all levels.

“Current events are focused on trade shows. The Malaysia Social Media Week was catered for the urban and above group.

“We need to have content suitable for all. We have not covered sports, oil and gas industry, law and health,” he said on the prospective new markets.

“We also need to include Malaysian content as part of the event,” he said.

“I have bigger plans to bring in creative content that is beneficial to Malaysians,” he added.

He is also looking sports and venue management at strategic location for the next phase of business.

MyEvents founder president Shahul Hameed Dawood who helmed the company for the past 10 years is confident of Azman’s capabilities.

“We’re moving from a position of strength to continue to transform My Events International for the future. Azman is the right CEO to lead My Events Malaysia during this transformative period.

“I am confident he will move the company forward with the speed required to capitalise on the opportunities in front of us.”
