SHAH ALAM: Selangor menteri besar and state executive councillors are now made compulsory to declare their assets to prevent corruption and promote competent and transparent work environment.
The move was announced today during the state legislative assembly sitting by menteri besar Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin said the move took effect on Aug 19 when all Selangor executive councillors took their oath to be free of corruption during the civil servants monthly assembly.
“With the support of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the move would ensure continued accountability and integrity of the state government’s leadership,” he said.
Amirudin said this in response to a question from Michelle Ng Mei Sze (DAP-Subang Jaya) on whether the state government would follow the example of parliamentarians in declaring their assets.
“We will also consider MACC’s proposal for all state assemblymen, including those not in the state executive council, to declare their assets,” he said.
