Armada team ambushed by thugs, Syed Saddiq lodges police report

PUCHONG: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) youth leader Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had lodged a police report against several unknown hecklers who had threatened him and his party members during a meeting in Ulu Tiram, Johor yesterday.
In a Facebook post, Syed Saddiq said his youth wing and Bersatu Srikandi members had congregated to hold a meeting on the party’s direction yesterday.
“While having dinner, suddenly about 200 people, clad in black attire, appeared out of nowhere and started hurling abuses and profanities against us.
“They were rude and barbaric. Even kids and my parents were not spared from their abuses,” he said.
The youth and sports minister added that the unruly group had called for them to apologise to the Johor Crown Prince if they wanted to leave the place in one piece.
“We were totally cornered by these gangsters. Several dignitaries including myself had to escape the place like we were the guilty party. We even had to climb up the gates to escape from the thugs,” he said.
Irate over the matter, Syed Saddiq said he has no plans to forgive the gangsters and had filed a police report on the matter.
“What did we do wrong? We were just doing our jobs. Thank you, Armada team, for keeping your cool during the melee.
f“I will not forgive these people. I have video recordings of those thugs and it is now in the possession of the police.
“To those behind the thuggery, let me remind you that no one is above the law. Malaysia belongs to all of us,” said Syed Saddiq.
On related matter, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak mocked Syed Saddiq for his alleged dramatisation of the event.
Posting a picture of Syed Saddiq climbing the gate, Najib said, “Are you leaving your mommy behind? Hope everything is okay,” he said.
The Pekan MP said that usually when such a thing arises, the affected party will immediately call the police.
“Instead, he claimed that he was surrounded for two hours before escaping. Usually, ministers will have bodyguards and police around for protection. I am clueless now,” said Najib.
