Any lane, any time: Plus activates JustGo ANPR toll payments across North-South Expressway minus Penang Bridge

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — Plus Malaysia has activated its JustGo toll payment system across the entire North-South Expressway (NSE) network, except the Penang Bridge, using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) to allow motorists to pay tolls through any available lane.

The nationwide rollout follows a successful pilot phase in early 2026. This development is a major leap in the operator’s efforts to modernise toll collection and provide a more seamless transit experience for millions of highway users.

Under the JustGo framework, a registered vehicle’s plate number anchors the payment process.

As a car enters a toll plaza, ANPR cameras identify the vehicle and process the transaction via the payment method linked to the user’s JustGo account. This effectively eliminates the need for drivers to queue for dedicated RFID or Touch ‘n Go lanes, as the technology functions across all lanes.

To activate the service, motorists must download the JustGo app on Android or iOS [1]and register their vehicle plate number.

The registration process requires users to upload a digital vehicle ownership certificate, which can be retrieved from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) app. Finally, a debit or credit card must be linked within the JustGo app to facilitate automated billing.

The system is designed for flexibility, allowing a single JustGo account to manage up to 10 different vehicles. This makes it a convenient solution for households or fleet managers handling multiple cars under one digital roof.

Plus argues that the activation of JustGo is a move toward reducing dependence on physical on-board units or tags. It serves as a precursor to a broader transition toward a Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system, which aims to eventually remove physical barriers at toll plazas entirely.

Despite the network-wide launch, JustGo remains unavailable on the Penang Bridge. Motorists travelling to or from Penang Island via the bridge must continue using existing payment methods for the time being. Plus has yet to announce a specific timeline for the technology’s extension to the bridge.
