KOTA BELUD: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim refused to call for a special reconciliatory meeting with those disgruntled by his leadership, despite calls by the latter group.
Speaking after attending a Malaysia Day event in Kota Belud, Sabah, Anwar said the group can always meet him up at the regular PKR meetings, which they have boycotted so far.
“The political bureau meeting is on every Wednesday. The central leadership council meets every month.
“Respectfully, all are welcome to attend. Tea and coffee are served,” he said.
Yesterday, PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin insisted that Anwar must call for a special meeting with those disgruntled with him to iron out their differences.
To date, PKR members who are aligned to party deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali had refused to attend party meetings chaired by Anwar.
This came after Anwar had openly called for Azmin to quit politics if he is found implicated in the gay sex video disseminated months ago.
Although the police had authenticated the sex video, they claimed that the cyber authorities could not confirm whether it was Azmin featured in the video.
Zuraida is known to be Azmin’s staunch loyalist, together with Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari.
