KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — The Madani government is committed to ensuring that Sabah and Sarawak receive equitable and sustained development through better educational opportunities, access to quality healthcare and comprehensive basic infrastructure, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

In a Facebook post marking the Kaamatan and Gawai celebrations, Anwar said these efforts are aimed at ensuring that people in both states enjoy a more dignified quality of life.

He said Kaamatan and Gawai are thanksgiving festivals rooted in the traditions and heritage of the people of Sabah and Sarawak, celebrated meaningfully in a spirit of togetherness, consensus and appreciation for the blessings of the land’s bounty.

“Amid the diversity of customs, languages and cultures that enrich our nation, these celebrations remind us that Malaysia’s strength lies in its ability to preserve harmony within diversity, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and nurture a culture of mutual respect,” he said.

The prime minister said the celebrations also reflect the importance of togetherness in reinforcing national harmony.

He also extended his greetings of Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan and Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai to the people of Sabah and Sarawak.

“May these celebrations bring prosperity, blessings and further strengthen the spirit of consensus and unity that forms the foundation of harmony in our beloved Malaysia,” he said.
