PUTRAJAYA, June 6 — The government has approved up to RM50 million from the High Impact Programme Fund under the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) to strengthen the implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) 2.0, Astro Awani reported.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the allocation will be used to expand training programmes, industry exposure and improve skills development quality to ensure the country’s workforce meets current and future market demands.

He said the move reflects the government’s continued push to align TVET development with industry needs through closer collaboration between stakeholders.

“I reiterate that the government allows up to RM50 million from the PTPK High Impact Programme Fund to be used for TVET 2.0.

“However, the condition is that employers and industry players must cooperate with the government, particularly through the National TVET Council, so that there is better coordination in making this agenda a success,” he was quoted as saying.

Anwar was speaking at the launch of the TVET 2.0 celebration at Dataran Putrajaya today.

Also present was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is the chairman of the National TVET Council committee.

The Prime Minister said close cooperation between the government and industry is crucial to ensure training programmes offered are aligned with sector needs, while also providing trainees with greater exposure opportunities.

Held under the theme “TVET Pilihan Utama Kerjaya”, the three-day event running until Sunday from 9am to 10pm brings together more than 107 agencies, institutions and industry players from nine key sectors.
