KUALA LUMPUR: The ongoing lack of cooperation and feud between PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali allows incumbent Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to stay in office until he is truly confident that the shared prosperity policy can be implemented and achieved, said Bersatu supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof who is also Entrepreneur Development Minister said.
“To implement shared prosperity along with the national entrepreneurs policy, it is vital for Anwar and Azmin to cool off. Azmin needs to focus on his work as the Economic Affairs Minister to launch th national economic development plan,” he said.
“As for Anwar, I would say that he does not need to have a movement to shore up his support base because the reality is Dr Mahathir would hand over the position to him as promised.
“However, with regards to the ongoing feud which I view as a family misubderstanding, if the differencces are not resolved then full support should be given to Dr Mahathir to complete his term.
“Alternately, other leaders such as (Home Minister) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin can take over as he is experienced in administering the nation. I have to say this since the political uncertainty in PKR also caused investors to be less confident of Malaysia and are taking the wait and see approach.
The Anwar – Azmin conflict has become worse after the latter supported the notion of Dr Mahathir completing his term in office[1], which goes against the agreement between Anwar and Dr Mahathir.
The National Entrepreneurs Policy 2030 was launched earlier this month to empower the B40 economic group via entrepreneurship.
The shared prosperity policy is one of the first major economic policies announced under the Pakatan Harapan government.
