Adib inquest: Forensics expert challenges those contradicting him

SHAH ALAM: Online netizens at large who claim they have more information on the cause of death of fireman Muhammad Adib Muhd Kassim, should come and testify at the inquest into his death.

Forensics expert Dr Ahmad Hafizam, who continued his testimony today, said this in regards to a supposed nurse from the National Heart Institute who made a post on Facebook, in which she claimed that she saw Adib covered with bruises which were consistent with an assault, which countered Ahmad’s court testimony.

Last Friday, Ahmad testified that the fireman’s injuries were more likely caused by the impact of a vehicle hitting him, as opposed to being beaten.

He was asked to comment on the post by the nurse known as ‘Cik Miera’ by DPP Hamdan Hamzah, to which Ahmad said: “I don’t want to comment on it … We are here to find the truth.

“If anyone has any other information on this, that I didn’t find during my examination. I ask that the coroner get them to come to court to give their information,“ he said.

Earlier, he testified that it was unlikely that the fractures in the first to seventh rib in the left rear side of Adib were due to being struck by the back of a machete.

He said the pattern of injury suffered was inconsistent with the act altogether.

“The possibility of sustaining back injuries where seven ribs were fractured following an assault with the back of a parang in this case is impossible.

“If the weapon was aimed at the deceased, the only possibility of fracture is the bone that receives the impact,“ he told Coroner Rofiah Mohamad.
