Adib inquest ends, time for a verdict

SHAH ALAM: Coroner Rafiah Mohamad has called for an end to the inquest into the death of of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim after hearing testimonies of witnesses over a period of five months.

She fixed Aug 21 for the interested parties to make their respective submissions.

“I am satisfied with the evidence and I close the inquest proceeding. We have enough evidence to deliver a verdict,” Rafiah said.

A total of 30 witnesses testified over 41 days in the inquest that began on 11 February.

Adib passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on 17 Dec 2018 after sustaining injuries during a riot that took place near a Hindu temple in Seafield , USJ in November 2018.

The inquest was called for as there were two version on the cause of his death.

One is that he was knocked down by a vehicle belonging to the Fire Department and two, he was bashed up by a mob.
