KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter Scale occurred in the Sunda Strait, Indonesia at 7.27 this morning.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement this morning said that the quake occurred at 191 kilometres southwest of Bandar Lampung, Indonesia at a depth of 72 kilometers.
However, the earthquake posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
